About the Cancer Society of Greenville County

The Cancer Society of Greenville County was established in 1965 with a simple goal: to provide services, funding and education to patients and the larger Greenville community. Today, the organization serves more than 4,000 patients a year, delivering on their mission to create new HOPE and improve the quality of life for local cancer patients and their families.

For every patient who enters their door, the Cancer Society offers much needed medical supplies including nutritional supplements, wigs and equipment for home use. In addition to financial and physical support, they also provide emotional care such as counseling, support groups and educational materials. None of this would be possible without the generous donations from individuals and groups across the Upstate. With nearly 28,000 new cases of cancer among South Carolinians so far this year, the Cancer Society continues to rely on community support to help patients and families through the challenges each diagnosis brings. All proceeds from the 2016 Designer Showcase Home Tour of Hope will go towards helping the Cancer Society of Greenville County further their mission.

Building a Legacy: Chris and Meranda Bailey

About the Home Builder & Interior Designer

Stoneledge Properties:
Chris & Meranda Bailey

Both natives of Woodruff, South Carolina, teenage Meranda had no idea why her cafeteria lunch cards kept disappearing. Flash forward to a few weeks later, and perhaps more than a few conversations from her father about keeping track of things, when teenage Chris drove her home from school one day. As Meranda sat perched in the front seat, and reached to grab something from the glove compartment, every missing lunch card came pouring out onto her lap. Sweetheart status ensued, and since then they have been inseparable. The love and joy they found in each other carried them through their educational experiences and now into family and work life. And as you get to know them, it's abundantly clear: they are the perfect pair.

A second generation in the construction business (Chris' father was a masonry contractor), he understood and felt within him the importance of carrying on the legacy his father built. Entering the custom home building industry in 1989, he learned everything he possibly could from the foundation to the sky, and cultivated his dream to have a business of his own.

It is this same passion they found within each other, this same recognition of the important things: quality, beauty, respect and integrity, that guided them to found Stoneledge Properties in 2004. Always a partnership, Chris and Meranda's combined vision for creating legacy, luxury, family-oriented communities - physical manifestations of their own internal values - the dynamic duo has taken on something near and dear to themselves, their family, and their friends: raising money for The Cancer Society of Greenville County.

Cancer has struck the Bailey family in multiple ways, both indirectly and directly. Chris had two grandparents pass away from colon cancer. Meranda's grandfather was also claimed by the disease. Perhaps most poignantly, Meranda's cousin, with whom she was extremely close both in age and in heart, lost a fiercely fought battle with cancer just two short years ago, leaving behind two young sons. With family at the center of Chris and Meranda's core values both in life and at work, they also supported two of their own childrens' dearest friends who both had a parent succumb to cancer. Seeing the emotional toll it took on the young and young at heart inspired the Baileys to take a firm stance: they want to raise some serious funds for a seriously good cause to fight a serious disease. And win.

When Chris and Meranda built Stoneledge Properties from the ground floor up, they did so on a foundation of core principles: passion for what you do, compassion for who you work with, respect for who you work for, quality of work produced, creating beautiful legacy spaces where life's moments happen, and integrity throughout the whole process, they knew they had finally realized a way to pursue their work passions. And taking these into account, they plan to approach raising money for The Cancer Society of Greenville with the same attitude and perseverance.

Help them on their journey as we come together as a community to help those who deserve to leave a legacy of their own without it being ended too quickly by cancer.

MB Interiors + Design: Bringing You Home

As a little girl, Meranda Bailey, founder + principal of MB Interiors + Design, found herself entranced and (more than a little) enamored with one very special (and, shall we say, well appointed) dollhouse. Only, Meranda wasn't just about staging the dolls for tea parties and family dinners. She would busily work on redecorating each room countless times, many of which involved her using her grandmother's fabric to hand sew new window treatments. We guess you could say that an eye for interiors comes naturally to her, and has been a passion since childhood.

A former educator, Meranda learned the value of listening to her students and their parents, and cultivating an environment where each student and his or her family was met at the perfect, individual level. As her husband and partner, Chris, started Stoneledge Properties in 2004, Meranda realized that many of those designing custom homes were wrought with turmoil and emotion over the plethora of decisions that one needs to make when undertaking such a project. Immediately, her empathy and knack for understanding and intuiting the needs of others kicked in. . . And before she knew it, clients were seeking her guidance on everything from faucets to wallpaper to granite to the stain of hardwood flooring. Just to name a few!

Meranda's approach is decidedly different, which is why a majority of her clients are building luxury custom homes as well as repeat customers who enjoyed working with her so much they couldn't possibly imagine working with anyone else. On the forefront of her approach is the ability to get to know her clients on a personal, friendship, level. She notices their body language as they reference pieces they love, and the way their eyes light up when they find a swatch of fabric they adore. Likewise, she immediately picks up on how the homeowners live life, and how that affects the design of the home.

It's not unusual for Meranda to be able to find one piece of furniture in a client's current home, that one piece that they love more than all others, and understand immediately what works for them. Likewise, she has had her fair share of clients who will come to her with, say, a small swatch of fabric . . And want the entire home designed around the lines and aesthetic within that one piece. Nothing is out of her box, and customers come back time and time again whenever they have more design related projects for her to work on for them.

The MB Interiors + Design difference is that Meranda and her team make the process solely about the homeowner. They ask the right questions.they know how to do a deep dive into someone's psyche and find what they love. Then, they are able to execute it flawlessly, resulting in a home that everyone can be proud of.

A self-admitted lighting aficionado, Meranda loves utilizing how lighting can affect everything from the ambiance of a space to the way the light bounces off the veins in a slab of marble. Her attention to detail knows no bounds, and her customers agree.

A designer through and through, with an intrinsic ability to connect with clients and help the realize their dreams and take the nerves out of designing a custom luxury home from top to bottom, Meranda Bailey prides herself on the relationships she has built just as much as the design aesthetic she has built. She finds inspiration from her clients, their vision, and everything in between. . . Always on the hunt to learn more about how to better exceed everyone's expectations.
